Mont St. Michel Tour Itinerary

Your train leaves from Gare Montparnasse in Paris in the morning. Watch the scenic Parisian suburbs and French countryside pass by on your way to St. Malo and enjoy a croissant and French coffee in the dining car on the train.

Upon arrival in St. Malo, your driver will be waiting to take you on a tour of the sights of Brittany's emerald coast.

First Stop: St. Malo

St. Malo France

The walled city of St. Malo retains a medieval atmosphere, with cobbled streets and half timber houses. The dramatic Brittany tides, highest recorded in Europe, (a 30 foot gain in as many minutes!) can be experienced at the sea wall or with a walk along the flats at low tide. Oysters are a local specialty.

Second Stop: Mont Saint Michel

Mont St. Michel Day

Medieval monk Aubert (later the sainted bishop of Avranches) was visited by a seemingly impossible vision from archangel Michael, instructing him to build a monastery atop a rock cut off by tides twice a day. Over many centuries, his vision was made reality, and Mont St. Michel is now the second-most-visited site in France, after the Eiffel Tower.

Mont St. Michel is the final visit of the tour after which your driver will take you back to the Rennes railway station for your return journey to Paris.

Final Stop: Dinan

Dinan France

Along the river Rance, just a few miles from St. Malo, is the preserved medieval village of Dinan. As a river town, the village was an important focus of trade in the Middle Ages. Rather than along the river banks and in the flats, village houses and shops climb high up into the hills, making the town ready to defend in case of attack - be it by pirates or invaders.
