The Musee du Vin, translated simply as the wine museum, in former limestone quarries in the center of Paris.
The three vaulted cellars on the property were used by the Friars of Passy in the 16th and 17th centuries to store their wine. Today, the cellars serve as the museum's restaurant.
After being renovated in 1950, the wine cellars were for a time used as the exclusive wine cellar of the Eiffel Tower's restaurant. In 1984 the Conseil des Echansons de France turned the property into the Musee Du Vin of Paris.
The Conseil des Echansons de France was formed in 1954 to promote French wines worldwide.
